Updates Regarding Tropical Systems
NEW UPDATE [6 pm Sat., 9/19]:
Due to the hurricane and surge watches issued for our area by the National Weather Service, the Brazoria County Judge has issued a voluntarily evacuation for low lying areas along the coast. The City of Freeport has closed Bryan Beach and is monitoring the tidal surge of the Bridge Harbor area. The Velasco Drainage District has closed the guillotine gate in the Old Brazos River.
Please prepare your property. Any loose items need to be secured. Ditches need to be cleared of debris to allow proper water flow.
The City of Freeport will continue to monitor Tropical Storm Beta and prepare for potential impacts. Updated landfall predictions will be provided by the National Weather Service.
We will keep you informed throughout the event through Everbridge Citizen Alert, Facebook and our website, www.freeport.tx.us . Also, stay tuned to your local news station who will provide updated information. Thank you from the City of Freeport.
The City of Freeport management and Office of Emergency Operations monitor the tropics as systems development and meet with state officials to determine the path of systems and the safest actions for residents.
